Samuel L. Jackson: "I Hope Obama Gets Scary in the Next Four Years, 'Cuz He Ain't Gotta Worry About Getting Re-Elected."

That statement came during an N-word-filled recent rant (err, interview) by Jackson in Ebony Magazine (link below). Leaving aside the highly crass language, you've got to hand it to Jackson for having a point: If you're not facing re-election, why NOT use that second term to get "scary" and stick it to everyone even worse than the first time around?

Too many folks, after all, hold to this rather naive and antiquated notion that a president's job is to, you know, represent the American people as a whole (as opposed to a little 20% leftist sliver of the population). But perish that thought. It's just too scary.

  1. Sounds like Jackson is still ensconced in his Jules character from Pulp Fiction!

  2. He was ranting up a nonsensical storm! Dropping N-words right and left, and also said that he voted for Obama because Obama is black. That latter comment got all the play this week from the right-wingers, although I yawned at it. To me, the most interesting comment was the one referenced above in which he actually hopes that Obama goes on a sort of sick leftist bender if he wins re-election. "Scary" is definitely the right word for that.

  3. Wonder if B.O. will try to distance himself from that rant? And if so, he'll piss Jules off royally....I wouldn't want to piss Jules off. Ever!

  4. PS - I hate it when black people use the N word and then get pissed when non-black people use it. If you want respect from others, you have to respect yourself first. I personally hate the word and would never ever use it, but I'm surprised when they're outraged about it.

  5. I guess I largely leave that issue alone, especially since I've been known to throw around Kraut Mick plenty often. That's still one of my favorite lines from The Godfather.

  6. But do you get upset when you hear others use those words?

  7. I think they do their race a disservice with that kind of that language, as I probably do when I say Kraut-Mick (more an ancestry than a race term). But I don't get nearly as upset as when a non-black uses the N-word, because there it's 99.9% of the time intended to have a racist meaning.

  8. Exactly right! Plus, it's just an ugly sounding word....Kraut Mick on the other hand, just sounds like a fun guy =)

  9. Just never call a native Irishman a "Mick." But I think I've relayed that story before.

  10. Indeed, you have and it was duly noted =)

  11. Next thing you know, someday I'll finally get to Deutschland and call one of those freaks a Kraut. It may be interesting to contrast the reaction to the Mick one. To the extent there is a contrast. Methinks the reaction might be precisely the same: Some asshole real fast lookin' to kick my ass!
