"Man Buys 17-Pound Lobster at Restaurant, Releases It Into Sea." This Story Inspired Me Today...
...So I bought a couple of Monster Thickburgers down at the local Hardees joint, and then I tossed one of them out in a cattle pasture on the outskirts of town. It really gives one a warm feeling inside, being ecologically friendly.

Postscript: I might have instead grabbed some Chick-fil-A and then made a beeline for the nearest chicken coop, but patronizing Chick-fil-A just ain't politically correct these days. (Or put another way, I'm just not much of a chicken sandwich dude, truth be told).

I love Chick Fil A, I'm very disappointed in them! We are all just human beings and deserve to be treated as such.
ReplyDeletePS - good for you, throwing the thickburger back! haha!
Their main PR guy dropped dead from a heart attack today. I'm sure it had no connection whatsoever to all the pressure he'd been put under by the company president's recent statements and the resulting uproar.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow....That is unfortunate, may he rest in peace. Has the president of the company made any comments about his passing?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen that he has, but don't know. The whole Chick-fil-A story, to me, is very much one that needs to wait for all the facts. The company president says he opposes gay marriage. So what. So does have the American population, even if I don't. I don't agree with leftists trying to squelch out speech that they disagree with through attempted boycotts and political pressure. On the other side of the coin are allegations that Chick-fil-A discriminates against applicants and employees based on their sexual preference. If that's true, that's equally wrong. Which is why I've largely stayed away from this story: More facts need to be known.
ReplyDeleteI just wondered aloud today about this very thing....when did choosing a place to eat become a political statement? And why isn't it against employment laws to discriminate based on sexual orientation? Religion, national origin, race, color, and sex are listed, why isn't sexual orientation as well? I've said it before and I'll say it again (probably until I'm blue in the face) we are all just human beings and deserve to be treated as such.
ReplyDeleteCongress and state legislatures generally haven't passed laws concerning sexual orientation discrimination like they have for other areas, like race, sex and age.
ReplyDeleteWonder how long before it is included? I'm all for free speech, but it makes me sad that most people invoke it just to hurt someone else.
ReplyDeleteThere's a distinction between the two issues. Freedom of speech is the freedom to hold and express whatever views you choose. That freedom doesn't necessarily permit one to act upon those viewpoints, such as by discriminating against a group of people in hiring and workplace decisions. And I can't imagine why I would have any problem with widening the scope of present employment discrimination laws to include sexual preference status.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! You are correct, I'm confusing 2 separate issues. You're very good at what you do Rager!
