I think the Obama presidency has in large part been little more than a W Bush third term. I know that earlier this year in this space, I said 2011 does feel a fair amount like 1979. Very true. But comparing the hapless president Carter to the sad likes of Obama and W Bush is a bit like comparing a common cold to advanced-stage, inoperable lung cancer (or, at the very least, a flaming case of gout of the right tit).Did Jimmy Carter get us involved in (and/or kept us involved in) new and wholly unnecessary foreign wars and military incursions with untold costs both in terms of American lives and war expenditures? Did Jimmy Carter spend money like a drunken sailor to the tune of adding trillions of irresponsible new dollars to the already catastrophic national debt?
Did Jimmy Carter ever walk around in a tight suit all the time like he was Black Bart the wannabe cowboy tough guy? Did Jimmy Carter ever hold a phone backwards? Did Jimmy Carter ever forget how many states are in the union or what year it was? Was Jimmy Carter ever accused of being either the dumbest president or the most far leftist president in American history?
Barack Obama and George W. Bush are assclowns. They are the two worst and most destructive presidents of my lifetime -- far eclipsing the bumbling Carter on his worst day. What America has ever done to deserve such pathetic presidents back-to-back, I will never know. And the truly disquieting part: America may never fully recover from the wholly rotten experience.
