(Full story linked at bottom). Does this mean that Creature Pelosi is prepared to investigate 70% of the American population? Let's get down to brass tacks right from the shoot: Threatening to investigate people for expressing a political viewpoint is about the most un-American act of which I can conceive. It's a direct assault on one of our most important and fundamental rights as human beings -- the freedom of speech, as protected and guaranteed by the First Amendment to our Constitution. When you threaten repercussions upon someone expressing a particular viewpoint, such a threat is sure to have a chilling effect upon free expression, which should be intolerable under the First Amendment and in any free society. Such threats are purely Nixonian in nature -- harkening back to the dangerous days of the Tricky Dicky. It's also the type of device you'd expect to see utilized in a totalitarian regime. That just ain't America, folks.
But alas, I've noticed a very frightening pattern of this sort of thing from the far-left democrats who've controlled Washington DC over the past few years. From Obama's White House calling on citizens to report other citizens who have a "fishy" viewpoint on health care, to Pigsnout Waxman threatening to hold congressional hearings on companies reporting the increased costs they will face from the dems' health care monstrosity, we've seen this type of thing over and over. And it's as utterly outrageous and un-American as it gets.
Which brings me to my final point. If you've read this space from time to time, you may have noticed me sometimes referring to the present time as Scary Days and other similar phrases. I do not do so lightly. Never in my almost four decades on this planet have I seen something in Washington DC as truly scary as what I've seen the last 2 years: An extremist-controlled, out-of-touch party with an iron grip on power, coupled with a hapless opposition party content to just say "no" while rarely proposing any serious, concrete ideas or plans for what should be done.
This the same angst that so many in the country feel these days. This burning feeling down in the gut that it's all just slipping away -- that the America in which we grew up and have loved for our entire lifetimes may soon become a thing of the past, buried under the weight of massive government debt, social and economic collapse, and the disregard of basic and fundamental human freedoms. I didn't start this blog for no reason, and I don't say these sorts of things for no reason. Scary Days.

Postscript: For once, I actually credit the DrudgeReport for an editorial choice, as it left the Pelosi item as its top story all day long. And I listened to some right-wing radio today, and the Pelosi thing was something they mentioned, but it barely seemed like a blip on their radar screen. To me, it was completely outrageous and despicable -- and that's to a dude who has largely grown oblivious the stupid things the far left say on a daily basis. When you start talking about punishing people for their viewpoints and treading that far into our First Amendment freedoms, it REALLY riles me up (in case you hadn't noticed). Kudos to Drudge for leaving this story up as his top headline all day, even if (apparently) it didn't exactly "drudge" up a whole lot of enthusiasm amongst his far-right conservative base audience.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more! There are ultimately three views in America; the Democrats, the Republicans, and the TRuTH.
ReplyDeleteThe third of such will never be abundance.
I wish Pelosi would fall down an elevator shaft....is that wrong? I'm pretty sure it is, dammit =)
ReplyDeleteI would like to see her defeated in the November elections, but alas: Her San Francisco seat might be the safest seat in the country. Apart from Michael Savage, do they have anything other than far-left dems in San Francisco? I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that San Francisco is mostly far left....again I say, "dammit." I'm still hoping for the elevator shaft option =)
ReplyDeleteI think a better hope than the one I expressed above (that she be voted out), since that is not very realistic, is just that some other dem usurps her as dem house leader. I don't think she's going to be the Speaker much longer, but she will continue as House minority leader. As the Speaker, it's rather frightening to think that she's second in the line of succession to the presidency. Hopefully if the dems lose the House (which is probable), some dem will soon launch a politcal coup to remove her as dem House leader. We'd all be a lot better off for it.
ReplyDeleteI really just think she's a nut job. A nut job with a bad face lift - not a good combo! I would love to see her out of office, I cannot imagine her as president - she make Obama look, you know, good.
ReplyDeleteHolly, there's a rumor, based on certain select photos of hers, that she actually has Very Large Fake Cans. I have seen those pics, and I think it might be true. But alas, she's very much past the point when she can utilize those for any real benefit. Gen X dudes are willing to be receptive to 40 and 50 somethings having fake melons, but pushing or past 70 gals are DEFINITELY NOT COOL!
ReplyDeleteEwww! I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit! I have not been looking at her cans, but I will have to start now...."definitely not cool" is right! I wouldn't call her "Vibrant" =)
ReplyDeleteShe's on record as loving her Botox, she clearly has a fake nose, and certain pics do seem to depict a certain degree of artificial enhancement. But the same can be said of Sarah Palin. Who knows what the real truth is on these tough issues?!
