...Yawn.
Obama the great gay rights advocate who's on record opposing gay marriage. So let me get this straight: They're equal enough to kill, but not to marry? (Apologies to Barry McGuire). Hypocrite.
And on the subject of the troops, we now near the end of a year 2010 that has seen almost 500 American troops killed in that absolute hellhole they call Afghanistan -- easily the most deadly year yet among many deadly years in the now 10-year-long war. Maybe the media can next declare that an "Obama victory" too?

Postscript: Obama can go around reaching compromises with republicans until the cows come home. It will not affect my opinion of him one iota. I know who he is, and it's certainly not a centrist. My opinions of him were thoroughly cemented in the first 2 years of his presidency, and they will not change. I could never vote for him in 2012. Now, I likely also won't be able to stomach voting for whichever assclown the republicans stick up there, but that's a completely different issue.
ReplyDeleteThe picture with all the flag covered coffins breaks my heart. It's perfect though.
ReplyDeleteHAH -- Iraq was a total bullshit war. Never had any reason to get involved there. Afghanistan -- different story. But after 10 years, who are we fooling? Al Qaeda operates freely in Pakistan, and so WHO CARES if Afghanistan opens up for them? It's not so much we lost the Afghan War as we failed the mission. We failed to take out Al Qaeda. So why aren't we getting out of there? Why are we taking fatalities the past 2 years worse than anything seen in the prior 8 years? WAR IS HELL. And you better damn give me a compelling reason to support it when it comes to the lives of our American boys. We should leave Afghanistan. Our mission failed there. We'll still take out Al Qaeda. But not there, not now, not in this situation. I really believe that.
ReplyDeleteAl Qaeda's got to go, that's for damn sure, I totally agree....I thought Obama was supposed to get us out? That's the ONE thing I was hoping for most from him.....I was scared that he won the presidency, but I thought, "hey, at least he'll get us out of this war!" but yeah, not so much. He disappoints again.
ReplyDeleteHere's what makes me fearful this Christmas Eve night: That all the American boys we lost in the Iraq & Afghanistan Wars will be largely forgotten. Because these were on the whole Bullshit wars (Iraq definitely, and Afghanistan after the first few years). We should keep an eye on making sure that these two wars have Memorials somewhere. To Me, the more Bullshit the War, the more we need to put a priority on making sure there's a Memorial for it. I just want to cry for the American boys who have lost their lives in War the past 10 years.
