It was supposed to be a magical, historic season -- the best ever -- for the University of Kansas Jayhawk football team. Instead, it ends at 5-7, no bowl game, and a last second defeat at the hands of bitter, hated rival Missouri. And for all his efforts, KU Head Coach Mark Mangino is about to be ridden outta' Lawrence, Kansas on a rail (if they have one sturdy enough over there to carry him). It's a Beautiful Day.

MIZ!!!!
ReplyDeleteZOU! But regardless of the fact that it did work out, I still can't believe Pinkel's punt decision. A similar decision in 2000 was probably the last nail in the Larry Smith coffin (against Michigan State, if I recall correctly), and Pinkel might be the luckiest man on the planet today. And I continue to be unable to fathom his philosophy of constantly chasing points with 2-point conversion attempts in the first, second and third quarters, but at least those decisions are no surprise because it's an established philosophy of his.
